Grab a Bike and Discover Downtown Manistique, MI And The Coast Less Traveled

6/15/2018

Blue-Mystique is your bike headquarters in Manistique, MI. Rent a cruiser or a tandem and check out our historic downtown sites and Lake Michigan, the U.P. Coast Less Traveled. You can download the Discover Manistique App at www.discovermanistique.com for more ideas. Here's what we recommend:
  • Before you depart, shop the Blue-Mystique Gift Shop -- the coolest coastal gift shop north of the Mackinac Bridge -- and make sure you shop the gifts, books and unique items at the Trader's Point collection, including Trader Bob's Gift Shop, and a restaurant. Upper Crust Deli is the place to grab a picnic lunch to go to enjoy on your trek through town.
  • Ride through the Manistique Campground and play on the playground and sit beneath the pavillion for gorgeous views of Lake Michigan's sandy beach shoreline.
  • Stop along the south side of the bridge over the Manistique River and experience a view of the Harbor
  • Next, hit Cedar Street and our various shops and eateries along the way. Get a cold beer at Tap21, Wheaty's Watering Hole for wings, or Marley's Bar for a shot of Jamison. check out the local artists in the Mustard Seed and Lake Effect Gallery, great shopping at Bostique, antiques and thrift stores galore, Cedar Street Cafe, The Grind Coffee Shop, Manistique Public Library at the high school. Treat yourself at Dairy Kream just before the river.
  • Cross over the historic Siphon Bridge, featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not, and land at the Historic Water Tower to learn more about the history of the area. Manistique was known for its logging industry from 1880 - 1920's.
  • Head east on M-94/Deer/Elk Streets to Manistique Central Park. Enjoy a circle of the lake, tennis courts, playground, and fishing beach.
  • Take 94 south to Main Street east through our historic residential district. Take Steuben South to Manistique Avenue east. Cross over US-2 to the beginning of the Manistique Boardwalk along Lake Michigan.
  • Follow the boardwalk and stop off at the Manistique East Breakwater Lighthouse -- the most photographed lighthouse in Michigan. Take the path all the way past the harbor to US-2 and back to Blue Mystique.

Peaceful Paddle

6/8/2018

Picture
When you are planning to kayak in the Upper Peninsula, you may first think of paddling Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. But did you know that Manistique, Michigan is only forty-five minutes south of the National Park and is located on the warm waters of Lake Michigan and the Manistique River. There are no crowds to battle, no lines to stand in. Just miles of peaceful shoreline and beautiful sunsets on inland lakes and rivers, or on Lake Michigan from various points.

It's easy to book online. Choose from our guided kayak tours, departing from two locations: Trader's Point in Manistique and The Dock Grill and Bar in Garden, Michigan. Or select from one of our solo tours for 2 or 4 hours to the destination of your choice.

Our most popular paddle is the 2-hour rental right here at Trader's Point in Manistique. Check-in at the Yak Shack, pick out your kayak (our most popular is 'Ship for Brains') and hit the river. You will be back for more!
